NEWDELHI: Asus has finally unveiled itsZenfone ARsmartphone in India. It is the world's first smartphone with 8GB RAM, Google Tango andGoogle Daydream support. Exclusively available on Flipkart starting today at 4PM, the Asus Zenfone AR comes with several offers.
Price and offers
Flipkart is offering Rs 2,500 off on Google Daydream View VR (original price Rs 6,499) if purchased along with the Zenfone AR. Interested customers can also avail no cost EMI offers on the smartphone for nine months. In addition, Reliance Jio is also offering Zenfone AR customers up to 100GB additional 4G data and a complimentary Jio Prime membership as well. Users can avail 4G data in the form of one additional 10GB data voucher per recharge or Rs 309 or above for up to 10 recharges by March next year.

Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality support
The highlight of the Asus Zenfone AR is its virtual reality and augmented reality support. Both Google Daydream and Google Tango platforms use the three cameras placed at the back of the smartphone. The setup includes a main camera, motion-tracking camera and a depth-sensing camera, something which Asus calls the TriCam system. Some of the apps that make use of the Google Daydream and Tango platforms are Street View, Fantastic Beasts, YouTube VR, Netflix, Gunjack 2, Need for Speed and more.
Hardware and specifications
The Asus Zenfone AR sports a metal build with a premium design. It is also claimed to be the thinnest smartphone to support Daydream and Tango platforms. Available in Black colour variant, the smartphone measures 158.7x77.4x7.8mm and weighs 170 grams.
Running Asus ZenUI 3.0 based on Android 7.0 Nougat, the Zenfone AR supports dual SIM cards along with a microSD card for expandable storage. The device features a 5.7-inch AMOLED WQHD screen with 2,560x1,440 resolution (79% body to screen ratio). The display comes protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 4.
Under the hood, Asus ZenFone AR packs the high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor along with 8GB LPDDR4 RAM and 128GB inbuilt UFS 2.0 storage. The inbuilt storage can be expanded up to 2TB with a microSD card. The graphics and animations are handled by the Adreno 530 GPU.
The Zenfone AR boasts of a 32-megapixel main rear camera powered by Sony IMX318 sensor and with PixelMaster 3.0 technology. The autofocus camera features a f/2.0 aperture, 6p Largan Lens and Sapphire lens protection. It supports both OIS and EIS for photos and videos along with the ability to capture videos in 4K resolution. Some of the other camera modes are HDR, RAW shooting, 92MP Super Resolution Mode, Manual Mode and long exposure. There is an 8-megapixel front-facing camera as well with f/2.0 aperture and 83-degree wide field of view.
Asus is also bullish about the Zenfone AR's five-magnet speaker with NXP smart amplifier and Hi-Res audio support. There is a fingerprint sensor embedded on the home button as well. The smartphone supports 4G, Bluetooth v4.2, dual band Wi-Fi, GPS and Glonass. The smartphone is backed by a 3000mAh battery, which also supports Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging tech.
